For those of you trying to figure out what's the big deal and why aren't we talking about Actual History?

In the US, we have a number of afficianados of what is known as the US Civil War, or the War Between the States, or the War of Southern Independence, or the War of the Rebellion, or the War of Northern Agression, or about 17 or 18 other less complimentary names.

There are maybe about a thousand of us who wander back and forth between boards concerned about that conflict and who delight in quarrelling with each other about this or that part of that war. Now and then, things get a bit warm but, for the most part, it is taken in good humor and the hot rock is tossed back and forth in good humor.

For an entirely new and unrelated topic, how many of you have never blamed "those" for a good deal of your troubles? Same story second verse. Would like to hear some of those stories

Perhaps Ann and I could discuss septe da mai? (I don't know nothing about that, but I thought it might be a start.)

No need for a PM, Ann. Septe de mai is Norwegian independence day. One of the few recorded peaceful secessions ever accomplished. I suspect that's mostly because the svenske didn't want the norske all that close anyway.
