Naval ops, both fresh water and oceanic, played a major role in the war, from bringing in supplies from offshore, to the North's taking and controlling inland waterways, to the South's lifelines of commerce raiders, blockade runners, revenue cutters and privateers on the open seas. Post any info you have on this important topic.

Here's the place for you to put the scenario together that would change the course and the outcome of a battle, or, the war itself. "If they had only done (.......), then the whole campaign would have been successful." Speculate, conjecture, and hypothesize to achieve the results that would have worked for your side, or defeated the other side.

Slavery usually elicits one reaction from everyone - bad. However under that black and white cloak are many different shades of gray. Some can see the gray, some cannot, and some refuse to believe any gray exists at all. This thread will examine the controversy and the many shades of black and white that are seen by Northerners and Southerners.
