Oliver H. Dennis

Oliver H. Dennis born in Canada - enlisted May 25, 1861 in Illinois , 8th infantry, company E later he was transferred to company I & company F-assigned to 1st division of army of West Virginia.

Then Nov. 19, 1863 he became part of the Illinois 17th infantry, company D. 

Discharged as Sgt.

Another relative Alexander Dennis ( believed to be Olivers brother ) enlisted Aug. 15,1862 in Illinois 127th infantry company C.

He was sent by the army to memphis and was assigned  to the 1st brigade 2nd division 15th army then a part of the army of Tenn.

He was a color Sgt. Wounded July 22, 1864 - died of wounds July 28, 1864.He was buried in Elgin, Ill where he was survived by his wife and several young children.
