11mm Short Barreled Boot/Vest pistol

A closeup of the right side of the frame. You can clearly see the junction of the twist-off barrel. There appears to be either the remains of a lug or a period weld at the rear of the barrel, but I have been unable to find any information about the purpose that could have been served by this addition.
