In May of 2010 I'm going to be involved in a very unique reenacting event. Its name is "March for Redemption". It will involve a fund raising march of some 150 miles. The premise of the event is that a small group of Federal soldiers desert their post at Harpers Ferry and go home. We will leave Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, and will go across the Potomac River to the top of Maryland Heights. We will then follow the Appalachian Trail to a place near the small town of Whisky Spring, Pennsylvania. We will then pick up an East-West trail called the Mason-Dixon Trail and will take that to Havre de Grace, Maryland. We will try and get people to donate an amount of money for each mile we hike. In this way we will be making it possible for redemption to be received by the men who deserted the Federal Army during the war because the money we raise will go to the preservation of Civil War battlefields. What do you think? -Joe Bordonaro Reply |
