After reading the only book one of my GG Grandfather's a John H. (Henry) LEWIS b. 1835 in Portsmouth, VA, dec'd 1917 at one of his daughter's home's in Washington DC. I have become even more interested in the Confederate's in Washington DC, which are rarely mentioned, except that they were sometimes, imprisoned there and convicted or went their to petition the government of LINCOLN for clemency.

John H. LEWIS, wrote only one book "Recollections from 1860 to 1865", published in Washington DC 1890's and an excellent source for the story of one family and Virginia, right before the civil war.
