Battle of Mannass

The first battle of the Civil War as it is known, we call it the War of Northern Aggerssion, was fought in the corn filed located on my 1st Cousin Wilber McLean, farm outside of Mannassa. Wilber was a loyal Union man and had no salves. My side of the family also had no salves but fought for States Right. After the battle with cannon shells had struck Wilbers home so he put it up for sell and moved to Appromatix Court House, VA. This is where General Robert E. Lee, Commander of the Army of Northern Virginia, signed the surrender to General U.S. Grant, Command of the Army of the Potmatic. Our family founded McLean, Virginia, in 1750.
