General: We will cause our letter to Gov. Pierpont to be published immediately on our arrival at Norfolk in the New Regime, Baltimore, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and other

papers that gave countenance to his pamphlet, with a suitable letter from us requesting as an act of justice to you that the editor will place the same in a conspicuous place. If this course on our part will be sufficient to vindicate your action in our case against the unjust aspersions in the said pamphlet, we trust you will not think it necessary to publish our confession, feeling sincerely and deeply grateful for your considerate kindness of which we were not aware until our recent examination.
